So when you get a fake email from someone in Nigeria who’s trying to scam you, next time you can do what this guy did. He basically scammed the scammer in this crazy drawn out way that’s too long to repeat here, but at least look at the photos. He got these dudes in Nigeria to hand carve and send him ridiculous shit. Like the above commodore 64. It’s actually messed up, because some poor man sat for weeks making this stuff thinking that he was going to get paid, and probably had nothing to do with the whole thing. Amazing nonetheless.
This is my radio play I did for my radio class. It’s called “The Nature of Things”. I wrote and produced it. I really like the way it turned out. Mostly because I really love the narrator’s voice, who was my roomate John. He’s got a great reading voice. I hope you like it. Please listen with headphones, and definitely don’t listen to it while driving you car. The artwork is gimmicky, but I think it’s kinda fun for now. Right click this to download it.
This was just a little test I did for a maya class that ended up not being about what it was intended to teach you. It was supposed to be about edges and compositing 3d things into live action footage, but things like stop motion puppets… I think. It was taught by Josh Mosley who’s work if very cool. We ended up just making 2d puppets in maya in the end; it was only a 3 week class. So this is a little cowboy guy I painted in watercolor. I did this sometime in January but forgot to upload it. If you watch it on Vimeo by clicking on the logo in the bottom right you can see it HD, woooo. It’s only 13 seconds so don’t get too excited.
Starlee Kine from This American Life fame is visting my radio class today. I’ve recorded her talk which was really interesting of how TAL is produced. I’ll upload it later if anyone cares to hear it. This is my first blog from my phone, how novel!
Oktapodi is up for an Oscar this year and I found this high quality version posted on Motionograher. It hard to find most nominated shorts online, cause it makes it hard for the creators to leverage it’s sale to festivals and such. It’s great and it’s only 2 minutes.
This is a video Sharon introduced me to. If you haven’t seen it, it’s really amazing. It’s animated graffiti on walls in Buenos Aires.
I forgot I haven’t posted this yet. For my last assignment I put together my last assignment along with the final project, so it’s a little longer than the others. As always, getting the table together and making the extra puppet and everything took me way longer than I thought. So in the end I only had like 4 hours to do the animation. I went to like 20 minutes before class started. So it get’s kinda rough at the end. I shot it on a DSLR, so make sure you see it in HD. The transcoding kinda ruined the color, but eh.
